Today I miss Zeus

Zeus was the most amazing dog I have ever had or will ever have. I got him at 2 months old when I worked at our local humane society in 2001. He was a crazy hyper little puppy. Too smart for his own good. That first couple months were really hard. As a 18 year old not understanding fully what it means to have a super intelligent, high energy husky puppy. I came really close to getting rid of him. 8 years later when he was so ill he couldn't drink water or stand up on his own, it was the hardest thing I've ever done to put him down, to let him go. 2 years later I still haven't fully delt with loosing him. Next month ont he 30th will be 2 years from the day I had to say good bye to my baby boy.

Today I'm at work and it's slow so I have a lot of time on my hands to think about things. Waaay to much time on my hands. I have Zeus' sister with me at work today and she is getting older, she's 10 years old now and having some health issues. So I'm very aware of her age today and its making me think of how sick Zeus got before I lost him. Which is making me sad.

Runs for Cookies

Have you ever heard of SlimKatie? That's her username on sparkpeople.com but she also has her own blog called "runs for cookies" imagine this, the address is http://www.runsforcookies.com/ She is absolutly amazing. Her starting weight is 253 and her goal weight is 133. Shes down to 136! I find her really amazing and inspirational. However I just had a horrible lunch of half a large bag of fungons and a package of snowballs (that means 2 snowballs) so pure junk. Of course now i feel like crap because i ate crap. Go figure.

Log EVERYTHING

One thing I've been learning along this challenge is to log absolutly everything. For one, while I'm using sparkpeople.com to keep track of things, I get more spark points. For another I don't know if you've ever really looked at how many calories are in the things you eat.

Today for breakfest I had a cup of water and a snickers almond bar. Over 200 calories later o.O But what really got me was last week while I was working (yes I FINALLY got to go back to work) we got a delivering from a local office supply company. They always include little candy pieces like the mini laffy taffys or a tiny bag of gobstoppers. So of course I ate one of each. Banana laffy taffy is totally awesome and I'm like the only one at work who likes them anyways. So then I was thinking, well I might as well log my 2 calories. It was 91 calories! Two tiny smaller then bite sized pieces of candy were almost 100 calories! For that many calories I could have eaten this whole blueberry snack bar thing my husband picked up. Or I could have eaten a couple pieces of fruit (depending on the kind). I couldn't believe it, my god almost 100 calories for a tiny piece of candy!
